Aside from Langette Prediger and her commanding performance at the final America's Cup in Lake Placid, it was a monumental day for the Inter-Provincial Program. This was the first race in the Program's history that had non-Calgary based athletes compete.
Jamie Willetts and Charmaine Bosma from the Ontario Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association (OBSA) met up with the athletes from ASA and competed in the America's Cup#8 race.
The athletes were recruited in the summer of 2010 from a York University Recruitment Camp. They spent the entire 2010 season living in Ontario and sliding out of Lake Placid. It began in November when they took a skeleton school hosted in Lake Placid, and from there the athletes made the committment to travel down to Lake Placid as much as they could over the winter months to continue sliding.
The pair was chosen to take part in the prestigious March FIBT Lake Placid Skeleton School that lead into the final America's Cup, based on their committment displayed this season.
Both have plans to re-locate to Calgary in the near future to continue the integration process to becoming Inter-Provincial Team athletes.
