SLIDE 2018 Skeleton Program

The Canadian men’s and women’s skeleton programs are among the best in the world. Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton (BCS) has consistently posted world-leading results in World Cup, Europa Cup and America’s Cup competition. This has been done with the hard work of the coaches and staff, with world-class equipment, and substantial support from our funding partners. But the most important factor in our success are the athletes involved in our program. They are extremely talented, motivated individuals who out-perform athletes from competing countries on a regular basis.

Slide 2018 is focused on identifying and recruiting athletes with skeleton-specific qualities, and integrating them into development and high performance training.

The Slide 2018 Skeleton Program is made up of 2 teams:

1) Inter-Provincial Team
This team is comprised of athletes who are in their minimum 2nd year of skeleton and still learning the basics of the sport, and athletes competing on the Americas's Cup Tour. Members of this team also challenge for spots on the National Development Team.

2) Inter-Provincial Development Team
This team is comprised of athletes who are in their first year of skeleton sliding and are being introduced to the sport.

The Slide 2018 Program endorses the Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton (BCS) mandate of "developing World and Olympic champions" and is committed to providing BCS with athletes ready to advance to that level. Because of the steep learning curve to achieve this, it is important to give our new athletes as much information as possible.
