Truly Inter-Provincial - Ontario Represents !
Aside from Langette Prediger and her commanding performance at the final America's Cup in Lake Placid, it was a monumental day for the Inter-Provincial Program. This was the first race in the Program's history that had non-Calgary based athletes compete.
Jamie Willetts and Charmaine Bosma from the Ontario Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association (OBSA) met up with the athletes from ASA and competed in the America's Cup#8 race.
Training Season Wraps up in Whistler
I was once again overcome with amazement at the skill level that the Inter-Provincial Team atheltes are reaching.
Last week the Inter-Provincial Team and the National Program teamed up to put in a solid week of training in Whistler to finish off training season. We had 12 of the Inter-Provincial team members attending throughout, 6 of whom had never been to the track before.
Top 10's for Slide 2018 athletes at World Junior Championships!
Amongst a strong field of veteran competitors, Slide 2018's Corey Gillies and Travis Brockway have finished 9th and 10th respectively at the 2010-11 Junior World Championships in Park City, Utah last weekend.
At 15 years old, Corey was the youngest competitor in the competition, while Travis @ 16 was the second youngest male competing.
For sliders this age to accomplish a top 10 in these events is outstanding - and speaks of their committment to learn and grow.
MORE Domination....in Calgary!
Our America's Cup Team continued to roll right along during this weeks races in Calgary! The powerful Canadian women swept the podium on both days, with Lanette Prediger winning both races! The fact that the girls were 1st - 4th in both races is astounding, and even with Randee Brookes and Cassie Hawrysh switching up race days - it didn't matter! Well done to Jaclyn LaBerge for pushing personal bests and cementing 2nd place in both races as well.
Domination in Lake Placid!
Well the teams did us proud! Greg and Lanette led the way, placing no worse than a 2nd place in either race and posting some speeds that were of World Cup class! Jaclyn's consistency was amazing, placing a solid 3rd in both races. Its been a great season for our America's Cup Program so far, with our veteran athletes dominating the last 3 races!
